MINISTRY OF YOUTH & SPORTS ANNOUNCES CHANGE IN HOSTING ARRANGEMENTS FOR 2026 NATIONAL COUNTY SPORTS MEET.

The Ministry of Youth & Sports wishes to inform the public, participating counties, athletes, officials, and other stakeholders of a change in the hosting arrangements for the 2026 National County Sports Meet.

Following an assessment of preparations and logistical arrangements in Lofa County, the Ministry has determined that the county is not adequately prepared to host the Opening Ceremony and the Zonal Games as initially planned.

Accordingly, the Ministry announces that the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 National County Sports Meet, scheduled for November 28, 2026, will now take place at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) Sports Complex in Montserrado County.

Additionally, Grand Bassa County has been designated as the host of Group C Zonal Games, which comprises Lofa, Grand Bassa, Montserrado, and Sinoe counties.

The revised hosting arrangements are intended to ensure the successful staging of the competition, with the necessary facilities, logistics, and other requirements in place to support participating teams, officials, and spectators.

The Ministry recognizes the significance of the National County Sports Meet as a platform for promoting national unity, youth development, sportsmanship, and county pride. The decision reflects the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that all activities associated with the competition are conducted in an orderly and successful manner.

The Ministry appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all participating counties and stakeholders as preparations continue for the 2026 National County Sports Meet.
