Ministry of Youth and Sports and Ministry of Education Dispatch 22 TVET Teachers for Specialized Training
The Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, has dispatched 22 TVET teachers under the Youth Rising Project, a project funded by the European Union (EU), to undertake specialized training in Ghana and Kenya.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports serves as the head of the Youth Rising Project Steering Committee. The training is designed to strengthen the capacity of TVET instructors and enhance the quality of technical and vocational education and training for young people across Liberia.
Of the 22 teachers, 10 will travel to Ghana to undertake training in Welding and Fabrication at the Maritime Training Institute.
The remaining 12 teachers will travel to Kenya to receive specialized hospitality training at BOMA International Hospitality College. Their areas of training include two females in Hospitality Operations, two in Event Planning and Management, six in Culinary Arts, and two in Hospitality Operations.
During a meeting with the departing teachers, the Minister of Youth and Sports and Minister Jallah encouraged the participants to take the opportunity seriously and perform to the highest standards.
The Ministers cautioned the teachers to conduct themselves professionally, remain disciplined, and make Liberia proud as they fly the Liberian flag while away from home.
They emphasized that the teachers are not only representing themselves but also their institutions, the Government of Liberia, and the country.
The training programs will run for up to 15 months. Upon completion, the teachers will return to Liberia and be assigned to TVET institutions currently undergoing construction in various counties, where they will contribute their newly acquired skills and expertise to the training of young Liberians.
The Government of Liberia, through the Ministries of Youth and Sports and Education, expressed appreciation to the European Union for funding the Youth Rising Project and supporting efforts to strengthen Liberia's TVET system.
The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to the development of a skilled workforce by equipping instructors with modern, industry-relevant knowledge and competencies that can be transferred to young Liberians across the country.
