More than 200 students of the Ministry of Youth and Sports-run Business and Domestic Occupational Training Center (BDOTC) are currently participating in a four-day intensive entrepreneurship training focused on creating, developing, and managing profitable businesses.

The training, sponsored by the French NGO Institut Européen de Coopération et de Développement (IECD), targets all government-run and subsidized Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in Montserrado County, including the Booker Washington Institute (BWI) in Kakata.

Speaking at the opening session of the workshop, BDOTC Director Madam Yartu Josiah urged the students to take full advantage of the opportunity. She emphasized that the entrepreneurship module is an integral part of their curriculum and encouraged the participants to apply every skill learned, stressing that “no knowledge is a waste.”

Representing IECD Liberia, trainer Mr. Evans Gray assured the students that by the end of the workshop, they would gain practical knowledge that could change their mindset. “Often, people talk before they think. But after this training, you will begin to think before you talk—and your thinking will be creative and innovative,” he said.

Mr. Gray highlighted the importance of understanding entrepreneurship, noting that while many Liberians are engaged in business, they often lack the fundamental knowledge of business principles. He promised that BDOTC students will leave the training equipped to manage their own businesses, develop job readiness skills, and, for those seeking employment, prepare professional and impactful curricula vitae (CVs).

The training runs from Tuesday, July 22, to Friday, July 25, 2025. After the program, participants will receive certificates, with special recognition for outstanding performance.
