Ministry of Youth and Sports Hosts MCC Eligibility Team to Strengthen Liberia’s Performance on Key Indicators
PAYNESVILLE, Liberia — SEPTEMBER 9, 2026: The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) on Wednesday hosted a high-level engagement with the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Eligibility Team from the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) to review Liberia’s performance on key MCC policy indicators and strengthen coordination toward sustaining the country’s eligibility for a future MCC Compact.
The engagement highlighted significant progress in Liberia’s employment policy performance, with the meeting confirming that the country successfully passed the employment policy indicators for both 2024 and 2025.
The engagement followed an official communication from the Deputy Minister for Economic Management at the MFDP, Hon. Dehpue Y. Zuo, to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Cornelia W. Kruah, regarding the MCC Eligibility Team’s ongoing engagement with government institutions.
The MCC Eligibility Team is responsible for monitoring and supporting Liberia’s performance across 22 policy indicators used by the Millennium Challenge Corporation to assess countries’ eligibility for its Compact program.
The MFDP technical team leading the ongoing engagement includes:

During the discussions, participants emphasized the importance of maintaining strong performance on employment-related indicators, particularly given their relevance to economic growth, job creation, and Liberia’s broader development objectives.
Minister Kruah and the leadership of the Ministry of Youth and Sports reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with the MFDP technical team and other relevant stakeholders to ensure accurate data reporting, policy compliance, effective coordination, and the sustainability of youth employment initiatives.
The meeting also underscored the importance of strengthening institutional collaboration and ensuring that programs targeting young people contribute meaningfully to Liberia’s employment and economic development priorities.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning remain committed to working collaboratively with national stakeholders to strengthen Liberia’s performance on key development indicators and advance the country’s broader vision of peace, inclusive growth, and sustainable development.
