The Minister of Youth and Sports is to superintend and provide effective and efficient leadership in the formulation, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Youth and Sports development policies and to foster greater key stakeholders & participation in National and International integration,
As the Chief policymaker of the Ministry, the Minister has the statutory authority to supervise and conduct the overall administrative supervision for the four Departments of the Ministry, including
Administration, Youth Development, Sports, and Technical Vocational Educational Training (TVET).
The Minister of Youth and Sports is the Ministry's Chief spokesperson, advocating and working with all international and local partnerships to promote youth empowerment, youth development, and sports development and access to technical vocational educational training, strengthening competitive sports development and increasing youth voices through intellectual engagements in Liberia, the Mano River Union, West Africa, Africa and globally.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports became the Ministry in 1982, with a mandate to create, design, and implement relevant programs that enhance the social consciousness of Liberian Youth and transform them into responsible citizens.
