Paynesville, Liberia – May 2026 – Liberia is set to host a high-level business delegation from MEDEF International on June 22, 2026, marking a significant step in the country’s ongoing efforts to attract strategic foreign investment and deepen economic cooperation with global partners.

The visit was announced during Minister Cornelia Wonkerleh Kruah’s recent visit to France, where she met with the CEO of MEDEF, Mr. Philippe Gautier, as part of sustained diplomatic and investment engagement in collaboration with Liberia’s Ambassador to France, His Excellency Teeko Tozay Yorlay. This coordinated approach by the government reflects a growing shift in Liberia’s development strategy, one that places youth empowerment at the center of international economic partnerships.

The upcoming mission is expected to bring together senior executives from leading French companies, who will engage directly with officials of the Government of Liberia and local private-sector actors. Discussions will focus on identifying investment opportunities across key sectors of the Liberian economy, including infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and skills development.

This engagement builds on the foundation established during the October 2025 state visit of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to France, where both countries formalized a general cooperation framework aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding economic collaboration. The anticipated MEDEF visit is seen as a practical outcome of that agreement, translating diplomatic commitments into tangible economic opportunities.

For Liberia, the importance of this visit cannot be overstated. With approximately 75 percent of its population under 35, the government is prioritizing investments that create jobs, enhance technical and vocational skills, and stimulate entrepreneurship among young people. The MEDEF delegation’s engagement is therefore expected to align closely with national priorities centered on inclusive growth and sustainable development.

Officials say the visit will include high-level meetings with government ministries, site visits to potential investment locations, and business-to-business engagements with Liberian entrepreneurs. These interactions are intended to provide French investors with firsthand insight into Liberia’s business climate while creating pathways for joint ventures and long-term partnerships.

The initiative is being advanced under the strategic direction of Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti, whose leadership has emphasized a more proactive and results-oriented model of economic diplomacy. Through this approach, Liberia’s diplomatic missions are increasingly serving as platforms for investment promotion, aligning international engagement with the country’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.

As Liberia prepares to welcome the MEDEF delegation, expectations are high that the visit will not only strengthen ties with France but also position the country as a competitive destination for responsible investment in West Africa. More importantly, it reinforces a clear national message: that economic growth must translate into real opportunities for Liberian citizens, especially its young and dynamic population.

The June 22 mission stands as a critical milestone in Liberia’s broader effort to transform diplomatic relations into measurable development outcomes, ensuring that international partnerships directly contribute to job creation, innovation, and long-term national prosperity.
