After weeks of traversing Liberia’s diverse landscapes and engaging citizens across 14 counties, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Cornelia W. Kruah, has brought her historic Nationwide County Tour to a meaningful close in Nimba County, with Karnplay District serving as the final stop.
The tour, designed to strengthen decentralization and promote direct engagement with young people and local stakeholders, reached its climax in Karnplay, a district that reflects both the challenges and untapped potential of rural Liberia.

Upon her arrival, the Minister received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from residents, local leaders, and youth who had eagerly anticipated her visit. The atmosphere was not only celebratory but filled with expectation and hope.

Throughout her engagements in Nimba County, Minister Kruah listened attentively to the voices of young people, who articulated their needs, aspirations, and concerns. From calls for expanded vocational training opportunities to appeals for improved sports infrastructure and youth empowerment initiatives, the discussions were candid, insightful, and forward-looking.

Karnplay, as the final stop, provided a fitting platform to consolidate key insights gathered throughout the nationwide exercise.

In her address, Minister Kruah described the tour as a transformative experience that has deepened the Ministry’s understanding of grassroots realities. She emphasized that the tour was not merely symbolic, but a deliberate effort to bridge the gap between policy formulation and the lived experiences of young Liberians.

She assured the young people that their concerns will directly inform practical policies and programs aimed at creating sustainable opportunities.

The Minister also highlighted key initiatives already underway, including the revitalization of vocational training centers, the expansion of youth employment programs, and the strengthening of community-based sports development across the country.

She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that no county or district is left behind in Liberia’s development agenda.

Underscoring the tangible outcomes of the tour, Minister Kruah announced that all counties will benefit from the Ministry’s scholarship and cadetship programs. Each county is set to receive 100 scholarship opportunities valued at US$10,000, while Nimba County has been allocated 93 slots under the cadet program, further demonstrating the government’s commitment to youth empowerment and capacity building.

As the final stop, Karnplay carried a profound sense of both closure and new beginnings. It was here that the Minister reaffirmed her vision for an inclusive and decentralized youth development framework—one that empowers young people not only in urban centers but across every corner of Liberia.

The conclusion of the Nationwide County Tour in Karnplay District marks not just the end of a journey, but the beginning of renewed action.

It reflects a government that is listening, learning, and preparing to act decisively. For the people of Nimba County and Liberia at large, the tour leaves a clear message: their voices matter, and that  meaningful change is on the horizon.
