Restoration of the Floodlights at SKD Sports Complex Commences.
The long-awaited restoration of the floodlights at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) Sports Complex, Liberia’s only international-standard sports arena, has officially commenced. This marks another significant milestone under the astute and visionary leadership of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Cllr. Jeror Cole Bangalu.
The project is being executed by Greenfield Electrical Engineering Company, in partnership with Enschede OVI Group. According to Westhof Hugo, Engineer and Director of Enschede OVI Group, the installation process is progressing smoothly and, if all goes as planned, will be completed within a week.
Mr. Hugo disclosed that the new floodlights are state-of-the-art digital LED systems that meet FIFA’s international standard of 1200 lux, the required illumination level for television broadcasting and international football matches.
Once completed, the SKD Sports Complex will once again be illuminated to global standards, enhancing Liberia’s capacity to host night matches and international sporting events, a major step forward in revitalizing the country’s sports infrastructure.
