Minister Kruah receives Heroic Welcome in RiverGee
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Atty. Cornelia W. Kruah, received a warm and traditional welcome from the people of River Gee County yesterday during her Nationwide County Tour, which forms part of her ongoing decentralization plan to directly engage counties across Liberia.
Upon arrival, she and her delegation were received by young people, the County Superintendent, the City Mayor, and the Representative of District #1 at the boarder between River Gee and Grand Gedeh Counties, as she and her delegation were escorted to the Killepo Town Hall.
At Killepo, in a rich display of Grebo culture, the minister was given the name “Portia,” meaning “Blessed Child,” and presented with kola nuts, symbolizing acceptance and unity.
In response, Minister Kruah expressed heartfelt gratitude for the honor and pledged to inscribe her new name on her River Gee jersey.
She noted that her visit is intended to understand the challenges facing young people, and to
assess the Ministry’s presence in the county, and evaluate existing facilities to better inform interventions.
She emphasized that the visit reflects her commitment to decentralization, ensuring that the Ministry moves beyond Monrovia to directly engage and respond to the needs of young people across the country.
